I was just reading the latest in Kellog Business school and came accross this article. This is a nice article which weighs the tax rebate move of the US government (to avert imminent recession) and the traditional theory with long term goals. The article gives details on how the same tactics helped US get out of recession in 2001. This time around the expected rebate is around $170 billion compared to $38 billion in 2001. These rebates are expected to increase the expenditure and hence revive the economy. Is strongly recommend readingt his informative article.

If you are thinking these two topics "the fed" and "drinking the coolaid" are related .... you are mistaken. I just wanted to share what these phrases mean, because a lot of my friends dont seem to understand either.
"The Fed" : The Federal reserve of USA (the central bank of US, the bank of banks in US) is referred to as "The Fed". It is pretty much like the Reserve Bank of India. It regulates the financial institutions and can heavily influence economy by controlling the interest rates. For example, to briefly stir an economy it can decrease the interest rates to encourage more loans/purchases.

Here is a debate raging in my mind ..... Should one do MBA now or wait till the seemingly recession is over in US economy.
Dollar is arguably going low, which means cheaper MBA for foreign nationals. +1
Job market especially the financial sector is very low - very poor placement options. -1
Companies prefer citizens and green card holders more than internationals applicants who would need H1. -1
Everyone is doing MBA -> market is getting saturated, by the time we graduate may be it will be gone!. -1
Looks from my perspective, Now Vs later .... is
