Just for the heck of it, I took some of the sample tests available over the internet. If you are a regular in English, IELTS is not that tough. Probably a couple of weeks prep would be more than enough. Listening exam takes some practice and getting used to. I strongly recommend you get a book like Cambridge IELTS and take all the tests in there. This will give you confidence and reduce the number of surprises you get on entering the exam.

Oh yeah one more thing, although American B-Schools didnt accept IELTS before, they are now accepting it. I just saw on Chicago GSB website that you can either take IELTS or TOEFL. I recommend choose whichever you feel comfortable with and whichever is easier/cheaper for you. [First, make sure all the B-schools you are applying to accept IELTS scores]
