GMAT Weekly Verbal Quest - June 21, 2009

Note: Please indicate the time it took you to solve this question and the reason for your answers

Q. By connecting various points in space , an artist can make a line , which defines the edge of various art forms. Horizontal line indicates a feeling of repose, vertical lines suggests spirituality,diagonal lines convey a feeling of movement, and a combination of vertical and horizontal lines spell out stability.

It can be inferred from the argument that

A. Lines gives meaning to various art forms
B. Artists use lines to define the edges of various artistic composition
C. Lines help an artist in defining various artistic forms
D. Lines help an artist in communicating information through their character and direction.
E. By using different line patterns , an artist can convey meaningful messages.

How odd this might sound. I am an artist (music) but my creative side got overwhelmed to this question and I went with E) I feel E) I do not think E) I just feel it. OA please!!!!!!!!

I would say C. To me, E infers that any combination of line patterns conveys a meaningful message.

OA is D

OE: Argument talks about usage of direction of lines that convey some information to the viewers.

Argument doesn't mention about explaining meaning of various art forms. It rathers convey some information by the usage of various lines forms. So Option A, C and E are out. B is already stated in the passage.
