Got a 680 (Q48, V35) on gmat

Hi all,

After many months of preparation, I got a 680. Not sure how this happened, since I've always scored (in prep tests) above 40 in Verbal. Anyways, thanks for everyone's help!

I had a very meticulous method of studying and used MGMAT and the OGs. I believe everything else is a waste of time. The problem with MGMAT practice material is that the Quant is harder than the actual test, and the verbal is easier. So the verbal scores might give you a false sense of security. At least this is what I experienced.

Also, I would highly reccommend that anyone preparing for the gmat, take at least a few days to focus on the AWAs. They weren't difficult, but the added stress isn't worth it when you're a couple of days away from G-day.

I woul also highly suggest to schedule a time when you are most comfortable throughout the day. I am not a morning person, but since I really wanted to take the test today (nov 22), I scheduled to take the test at 8am. That was the only time slot they had available. I feel like I can score higher right now on my verbal portion than I did.

Now I move on to applying to b-schools. Any suggestions? I'd like to get admitted to Kellogg's or BSB's part time programs here in chicago. I don't know how likely that is with an 86% in today's economic climate. THERE WERE MANY others taking the gmat today.
