look:

If a<-1, is b between 0 and 1?

1. -b<-a

2. -1<ab<0

Just b is sufficient according to the OA. Why isn't 1.? b has to be smaller than a and a is smaller than -1. Thus b is never between 0 and 1. So a should be sufficient as well, shouldn't it?

A is not sufficient

a < -1

=> -a > 1

Now -a could be any number greater than 1 ..lets say -a = 5

-b < -a
=> -b < 5

=> b > -5

so be could be -4 ... or 0 or 2 or 0.5


so we cant say whther b is between 0 and 1 or not.

(b) becomes -1<-2b<0
multiplying both sides by -2 , we get 0.5>b>0

So b falls between 0 and 0.5.
