    My ans - A

    x^2 > y^2 .

    even if number is b/w 0 & 1 / -1

    .5^2 > .3^2

    - Now when we look at the statements.
    1 - x>y all possible cases

    2 if x is -ve y is +ve then we get a contradiction x<y

    so its A

if x > |y|, then x is always more than y, because the value of x is more than the absolute value of y. So A
The second varies depending on whether x is positive or negative

I would choose "D" because both answer choices are sufficient alone in answering the question.

Jbborgla, use x=-0.3 and y=-0.2... here x<y ; but u cannot answer this question with only sencond condition... hence IMO ans is A.

    IMO: A - 45 secs

from statement 1: x is a positive number > the positive value of y which means x^2 will always be > y^2. sufficient

From statement 2: obviously not enough information since y could be a very large negitive number and x be a small negitive or positive. Insufficient.

    answer. A

    OA: A

    OE: Q. If x^2 > y^2, is x>y?
    1) x > |y|
    2) |x| > y

    1) gives you that x is positive and will always be greater than y (doesnt matter if y is positive or negative). Hence sufficient.

    2) Depends on whether y is positive or negative - insufficient.

    A)
