    %age to GPA Conversion !!!

    Hi,
This pertains to the query of most Indians applicants who have studied in universities that give percentage grading system. But GPA calculation may be different. I got a 72% in UG exam and the topper scored 81% and the pass percentage was 40%.If i calculate the GPA through mba.com, I get a GPA of 2.4.May I know how universities calculate GPA in cases like me roughly.I have heard it should be (your percentage/topper percentage)*4 in which case my GPA will be significant.Plz let me know.Thanx.

I attended a few MBA seminars this year and I have realized that until the school asks you, dont try to convert your % to GPA. B-schools get 1000s of applications (cumulatively over the years ... millions) from india ... so they have an idea of how your percentage would compare to in terms of what academic level they are looking for.

So talk to the school you are applying, if they insist get a GPA conversion only then go for it. I believe there are a few agencies who do it for you, you can contact them as well.

Maverick, I don't think every B -schools require you to convert your % to GPA. I think whichever schools you are applying to , you should ask them.

BTW, which B-schools you are applying ?
