DS question ... is there a better way of solving this question ... than just working

If p is a prime number greater than 2, what is the value of p?

    (1) There are a total of 100 prime numbers between 1 and p+1
    (2) There are a total of p prime numbers between 1 and 3,912
Could anyone suggest the best way to solve this problem?

i think the answer is D
we should not try to get the answer EXACTLY.... we should just try to see if we can find of value of p ( may be not exactly)if each statement is true.. hope you got my point
taking 1).. the first 100th prime no. is p.. so we can say that we can get the value of p ..
taking 2) the no. of prime numbers from 1-3912 is a fixed no. that is p .. so we can get the value of p

    rose is right....
dont solve this stem...just we know from both 1 & 2 that we have fix numbers..
    1) there should be definite p, if there are 100 prime number between 1 and 1+p...
    2) there will be always a fixed number of prime numbers between 1 and 3912, no matter what, even if world is upside down....this number wont change..

    hence, D

i think the Ans = C, coz Q is asked for the prime number P.

from 1) there are 100 prime numbers, but we do not know the vlaue of p - NS
from 2) there are 9 prime number, we do not know the vlaue of p either -NS

    But from 1+2, we get prime number p = 3912-1 = 3911.

Why it is D?, coz the Q is asked for the vlaue of P.
