hello angrymofo,
congratulations for getting 740
i thing you can help me in giving some valuable information.
-can you tell me what are the books that you prepared for gmat
Manhattan GMAT
SC book. My verba (sentence correction) was very book. If you study this book and do the questions (which point to the OG) at the end of each chapter, that would be a good start.
I also got OG and the OG Verbal and OG Math books.
SC is similar to math in that, it follows certain rules (except for idioms). One you learn those rules you just need to know how to apply them. This comes with practice.
For
CR read the question first then the statement. For example if the question asks which of the below weakens the statement, as you are reading the statement, try to think how you would weaken the statement. For this try to find what the premise, assumption and conclusions are. The rest is just practice.
For
RC, I took notes, but not to refer back to them. Rather to create a mental map. Writing just helps me create that map. Also pacing is very important. It is easy for non-native speakers, such as myself to waste too much time.
-what is your study method.
An error log is very valuable. Try to understand the basics. Solve the questions initially with no time limit. Understand for every question why only one choice is correct and the others are wrong. You should improve your correctness with no time limit first. Once you are getting 90% correct work on pacing.
-your quant was almost same in all the four GMATs that you gave.(can i say you were already qualified for the gmat quantitative questions by the time you gave your first exam?) -the only thing that changed in your results (and ultimately changed your total score) is verbal. how did you improve your score?
I spent about 4-5 months of tedious question solving using the method I mentioned above. I admire people who get 700+ in a couple of weeks. I took more time. But targetted study is the key. I first worked on
SC for 3 months, then I added
CR and
RC to the mix.
-what were the strategies that you followed to perform best in the exam.
Try to be calm yet alert. This means don't panic when you don't see the correct answer immediately. But don't be too relaxed to make stupid mistakes either.
please do not think that these questions are weird.your answers can help me a lot.
i have a hesitation. i always think what if i get a question, the example of which is not in the OG, kaplan or any other material.
These are great questions, I wish I could spend more time answering them. I will try to visit the forums more often and answer more frequently.
i always consider that the questions in the OG, kapla, princeton review are not sufficient. i think, i may get many new question(the model's of which are not given in the practice books) in real gmat which i can not answer even though i can answer all the question in the practice books.
for math and do the MGMAT tests for verbal and overall stamina.
please guide me.
